<title>Roadway Safety Issues Highlighted During KDOT Annual Conference</title>
<description>Topeka, Kan.--Freshly appointed Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Mike King kicked off the department&#039;s annual statewide safety conference with opening remarks Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka.
King was joined by National Highway Traffic Safety Region VII Administrator Romell Cooks and KDOT Traffic Safety Program Manager Pete Bodyk in welcoming the more than 450 attendees to the 18th annual edition of the conference, titled Roadway Safety: It&#039;s About Slashing the Crash. The goal of the two-day conference was to bring together a diverse audience of traffic safety experts, law enforcement and emergency response personnel, state officials and even 150 teens to explore how to make the state&#039;s roads safer.</description>
